Advanced Bionics Listening Check (also known as Soundtest)
Most of us have heard this phrase when someone is testing a microphone in front of an audience. Thanks to the new Harmony Listening Check, parents, teachers, and audiologists don’t need to guess whether or not a child’s Auria or Harmony sound processor microphone or the T-Mic microphone is working correctly.
Check Connectivity with Ease
The Listening Check, a handy diagnostic tool, can easily verify that a child’s equipment is functioning properly, even when a child is too young to provide feedback themselves. In addition to checking whether the sound processor microphone is working, the Listening Check can also determine whether a sound processor is receiving proper input from an FM receiver (with the iConnect Adapter) or consumer electronic devices such as an MP3 player (with the Direct Connect Earhook and Cable).
Portable and Convenient
Portable and easy to use, the Listening Check may be beneficial wherever a child goes—to daycare, to school, on holiday, or even to summer camp. And it’s battery operated, so there’s no need to find an electrical outlet. Just turn it on, attach the device you’re checking, whether it be a T-Mic microphone or the sound processor microphone itself, pop in the earbuds, and talk into the device. “Is this thing on?” Most likely, it is!
The Harmony Listening Check is included as part of the Pediatric Harmony Processor Kit. Supplied in a soft, zippered case. A set of earbuds is sold separately - note, any standard 3.5mm headphones can be used, but we recommend using the Advanced Bionics earbuds.

Please note that to listen to an Auria or Harmony processor microphone the processor MUST have been set-up with an "empty program slot".
To verify that you have an empty program slot in the Harmony, turn on the processor and watch the LED as you move the program selector switch. An empty program slot will display as solid green. Leave the program selector in this position. If there is no solid green, then a program slot will need to be cleared before the listening check can take place.
Program verification with the Auria can be made by placing the Auria into the Listening Check device and moving the program selector to each position while listening through the earbuds. A programmed position will elicit a “clicking noise” while an empty position is the one in which the clicking noise stops. If all program positions are filled, then the audiologist will need to clear a program slot before the microphone check can be completed.
Please check with your Cochlear Implant Team for further help and advice.
The Harmony Listening Check can also be used to verify sound input while using a compatible auxiliary eEarhook, for example the T-Mic, iConnect, or Direct Connect. This is a feature that provides peace of mind to parents, educators and caregivers, especially in younger children who may benefit from the use of one of these auxiliary options.
