Take the Sonic Traveller with you to wake to your favourite clock and charge your phone at the same time - don’t leave home without it. Compact and stylish, the Traveller has a number of very useful features including Sonic Alert’s vibrating bed shaker that provides a tactile sense ensuring you wake up even while others continue sleeping (with volume turned down).

The bright red display is easy to see and adjustable so you can choose the setting you want.

In the opinion of our evaluation panel, this clock is compact, with a nice modern design and easy to use buttons. The vibration is not as powerful as others in the Sonic Alert range but it is small enough to take with you when travelling. Many people will find the USB charging facility useful.

Note: The maker supplied a review sample for evaluation, the opinion of the product is my own personal view Quite a small clock at 13cm wide by 8cm deep this has an "oval" form factor and looks a bit more discreet than some alarm clocks. Despite being small though this has a very clear larger red LED display. No doubt the stand out feature is the 'shaker" this is included in the pack and plugs into a rear port (cable is a couple of metres long more than enough here) simply place the shaker under a pillow. If you don't want to use it you can unplug it from the unit. Despite being an alarm clock with the usual splattering of features you'd expect there are a few useful additions namely a USB charging port - particularly handy with the prevalence of phones and tablets I ran my USB tester on this just to see how it stacked up and got good charging speeds of over 1.2 amps on a smart phone no issues with this USB port for charging speeds. This is at odds with the documentation which states the output is 500mA (which would be on the slow side for charging) Controls are very logically laid out on the top with contrasting silver buttons making them stand out over the black casing. An oversized "snooze" button and manual switch for the alarm. Two rotary dials for the volume and tone so you can set the alarm to suit. On the underside a slot for a 9 volt battery this is a back up source just to keep the settings and time if you get a power cut it's not meant to power the clock on it's own. A few areas I liked are the test mode this allows you (by pressing and holding the snooze and time buttons for 3 seconds) to hear the alarm and feel the vibrate function handy if you want to adjust the position or volume control. 24 hour time is supported and you can even adjust the length of time the snooze is active for (1 - 30 minutes) and alarm duration (very useful) in addition to this you have 5 adjustable levels of display brightness important to have this as you might find the top level a bit much at night. With the alarm sound it is loud but you can tailor this to your requirements at full level it's louder than comparable alarm clocks. The shake/vibrate is quite effective too it certainly will wake on it's own. Whilst the product is clearly aimed for those who might have impaired hearing (hence the louder alarm volume and shake feature) it can work quite well for other users heavy sleepers and just as a normal alarm clock. Any weaker points? Instructions are clear, controls are simple and build is good on the unit so I have no real niggles to pick here bar the incorrect spec for the USB port (which turns out to be an advantage), some might like a radio though I don't see it as a must have on this type of clock. A nice clock and hits the mark on all levels.

I bought this for home use as well as occasional travel use. The clock is clear and has adjustable dimming which is really useful so it it doesn't disturb your sleep. The pad vibrates just right, I tried other products but those pads woke me with the force of a road drill. Even though I'm a heavy sleeper the vibrating pad operates at a good level so as to be enough to wake from a deep sleep gently but effectively.
