Assistive listening for TV - wirefree

people wearing headsetsConnevans offer three types of wirefree assistive listening systems, two infra red and one radio. All three systems have options of neckloop for hearing aid wearers or stereo earpieces. They can all be used with any television, radio or hi-fi, the systems are very much 'plug and play'.

Which system to choose infra red or radio?

Infra red
Operates within line-of-sight in the same room. The advantage with infra red is that several systems can be used in adjacent rooms making it eminently suitable for multiple occupancy residences.

Radio
Can be used anywhere within the 80 metre range of the transmitter. This allows freedom of movement around the same or adjacent rooms.

There is a choice of three channels so up to three systems can be used in the same area (operating frequency 863-864MHz).

Installation
There are two main parts to these systems, a transmitter and a receiver, and all require minimal installation.

person watching TVThe transmitter is placed in a prominent position near the TV, hi-fi etc. and connected to a 13amp socket. Then either attach the microphone near to the loudspeaker or use the direct connection (SCART or as appropriate). All the systems come supplied with microphone, SCART adaptor and audio lead as standard.

The receiver uses a rechargeable battery and when not in use is placed in the transmitter charging cradle ready for its next use. A spare battery is included with some systems which can be recharged whilst the system is in use.
